FAQ’s
What can I expect from our therapy sessions?
It’s my hope that you can experience our conversations as casual, warm, affirming, inviting and down to earth. I believe you are the expert on your own life and you already have everything you need to succeed. My job is to ask questions, reflect with you and offer tools to help you find relief and meet your goals.
Where are you licensed to provide therapy?
I am licensed to provide therapy in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Do you offer therapy in-person or online?
Both! I have an office in Linden Square of Wellesley Massachusetts where I see the majority of my clients. I also see clients virtually throughout MA & CT.
What is the cost of therapy?
Individual Therapy & EMDR Intensives are $220 hourly.
Do you offer reduced rate therapy?
If I can afford to, I will offer therapy at a reduced rate for those who are experiencing financial hardship. Please inquire if you believe you may be eligible.
Do you accept insurance?
I am not contracted with health insurance companies; however, I submit my client’s Out of Network claims through Thrizer to help reduce upfront costs of Out of Network therapy. If you have a PPO plan through your insurance company, it is likely that they will pay for 50 - 80% of each session fee after your OON deductible is reached. Click here to learn more.
Why do you not accept insurance?
I have decided to no longer contract with insurance companies for several reasons including:
I believe the therapist and client are the most qualified to determine what type, duration and frequency of treatment is most appropriate in real time.
Unfortunately, health insurance companies are notoriously inconsistent when paying out their providers. With frequent claim denials and unexplained month-long delays, relying on health insurance companies has become unsustainable for my practice.
Insurance companies simply do not pay fair rates to their contracted providers. So, while insurance companies get paid more each year by raising premiums, copays and deductibles… therapists do not receive any increase in pay. This can create a toxic working model for therapists, requiring them to treat a very high number of clients per week to earn a livable wage. This ultimately increases burn out for therapists and impacts the quality of care clients receive.
Setting my own rates allows me to offer reduced rate therapy to individuals who cannot afford therapy. I’m passionate about continuing this practice to ensure access to quality mental health care is equitable.
How long have you been a psychotherapist?
I began my graduate and clinical training in 2015. I began practicing as a psychotherapist in 2019. You can learn more about my education, training, and professional experience here.
What can I expect from an intro-call?
We will spend 15- 20 minutes getting to know each other. I will ask you to share a bit about what has you seeking therapy now. I’ll also ask you to share what you know helps or doesn’t help based on your past experiences of therapy or psychiatry. I would be happy to answer any questions you have about me or Shared Stories Counseling. Then we can discuss logistics like scheduling and billing.
