Trauma Therapy in Boston’s MetroWest

For Childhood, Relational, Sexual & Medical Trauma

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an eight-phase brain based therapy that helps you safely process the beliefs, sensations and emotions rooted in trauma that are keeping you stuck in survival mode. EMDR can bring new insights, clarity, and adaptive beliefs to help you heal deeply and feel safe again.

Shared Stories Counseling specializes in EMDR for adults who are impacted by:

    • Childhood Trauma:

      • Attachment Wounds

      • Physical, Sexual or Emotional Abuse

    • Relational Trauma:

      • Infidelity, Betrayal or Separation

      • Grief & Sudden Loss

    • Systemic Oppression:

      • Racial Trauma

      • Gender-Based Violence

      • Immigration-Related Trauma

    • Sexual Trauma:

      • Assault

      • Exploitation & Trafficking

    • Medical Trauma:

      • Cancer

      • Chronic Illness

      • Health Anxiety & Panic

    • Phobias

  • You may relate to the pain that shows up when people make assumptions about you or claim to know your story.

Shared Stories Counseling is careful to understand that you are a multi-storied and complex individual who deserves to be met with curiosity and respect. Our approach to trauma therapy centers all of the stories that are otherwise untold, so you feel empowered to know yourself and be known more authentically.

This non-pathologizing and relational approach will help you feel empowered to take a stand against the harmful and inaccurate stories trauma and oppression convinced you to believe about yourself. Narrative Therapy emphasizes that people are not defined by their problems, but rather are the authors of their own stories and capable of re-authoring negative narratives to more empowering ones.

  • Shared Stories Counseling specializes in somatic therapy aimed at reducing the anxiety, irritability, emotional numbness and dissociation that is often experienced after trauma.

These practices are informed by the work of Manuela Mischke-Reeds LMFT, Janina Fisher PhD, Peter Levine PhD, Stephen Porges PhD, and Deb Dana LICSW.

    • Breathing Techniques

    • Guided Imagery

    • Tapping

    • Polyvagal Therapy

I’m Victoria Kachinski, LICSW, psychotherapist and solo practitioner in Wellesley MA. I’m passionate about supporting my clients as they learn to care for their mental health and nervous systems through affirming, somatic, trauma-informed, and non-judgmental practices.

In our sessions, we’ll work to understand how your past experience of trauma and stress may be causing present day mental and physical disturbance like anxiety, depression, fear, irritability and emotional numbness.

I understand that it’s hard to get out of survival mode alone. Throughout the years, I’ve been so lucky to witness my clients overcome their pasts and thrive again after chronic stress and trauma.

I know the same is possible for you.
