Empowering & Effective Therapy for Women

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a brain based therapy that helps your nervous system process what it’s ready to process at a pace that feels intuitive and safe for you. EMDR can bring new insights, clarity, and adaptive beliefs to help you get unstuck after trauma or chronic stress.

    Who is EMDR for?

At Shared Stories Counseling, we specialize in supporting adults who are impacted by chronic stress, burn out, complex trauma, early childhood trauma, sexual trauma, grief, anxiety and depression.

  • Somatic Therapy at Shared Stories Counseling is informed by Polyvagal Theory. Our approach focuses on nervous system care for individuals, couples, and families who are ready to move out of survival mode and improve their mind-body connection.

    Somatic Interventions Include:

    • Somatic EMDR

    • Breathwork

    • Guided Imagery

    • Grounding and Coping Skills

    Who is Somatic Therapy for?

At Shared Stories Counseling, we specialize in supporting adults who are impacted by chronic stress, burn out, complex trauma, early childhood trauma, sexual trauma, grief, anxiety and depression.

  • Narrative Therapy is a non-pathologizing and respectful approach that centers people as the experts in their own lives. It encourages people to honor their inherent skills, competencies and abilities when working to reduce the influence of problems in their lives. This therapy allows you share all of the stories that would otherwise stay untold, so you can know yourself and be known more authentically.

Narrative Therapy is a useful approach for anyone hoping to change their relationships with:

    • anxiety

    • depression

    • trauma

    • burn out

    • marital or romantic conflicts

About Victoria

A smiling woman with shoulder-length brown hair and blue eyes taking a selfie in a well-lit room with a green plant and a round mirror in the background.

Hi, my name is Victoria M. Kachinski, MSW, LICSW. I am a psychotherapist and founder of Shared Stories Counseling, LLC located in Wellesley MA and virtually throughout MA and CT.

My hope is to support you while you identify your goals, deepen your understanding of your values, and work to take your power back from problems that try to get in your way.

With over a decade of clinical experience, I have developed a great sense of gratitude for my ability to do this work. After receiving my MSW and LICSW, I have been able to care for individuals, couples and families in community, hospital and private practice settings who have been affected by childhood trauma, sexual abuse, exploitation, racial trauma, immigration-related trauma among asylum seekers, depression, anxiety, panic, phobias, attachment-based trauma and relationship issues.

I believe your inability to stay emotionally regulated in a toxic & oppressive system is NOT the problem…

In our conversations, we'll work to understand how your mental health, relationships and daily life are impacted by the larger systems you find yourself in. Overall, my stance as a clinician is rooted in social justice, feminist, intersectional and decolonized frameworks. My eclectic and integrative approach is generally informed by Attachment Theory, Systems Theory and Polyvagal Theory.

I am committed to building affirming, non-judgmental and culturally responsive relationships with all of my clients. It’s particularly important to me to commit to the on-going learning and unlearning needed to offer safe and effective care for those within LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities.

What else?

Outside of work I’m usually training my two pups, catching up on my favorite reality tv (a not-so guilty pleasure!!), cheering on the Celtics, reading, quilting, attending live comedy shows, exploring local beaches, and trying out new vegan recipes.

I look forward to learning about you as well!
